Climate Accounting
overview card
Climate accounting - what are your CO2 emissions and what is your CO2 capture?
More and more municipalities will start producing annual climate accounts after 2020.
Regulatory plans and the municipal plan will also need to include the consequences for climate accounting.
The goal is to balance emissions and capture of CO2 gases (an account has both debit and credit).
Both private and public companies will have to report their emissions to the municipality, and the municipalities will present the results annually.
CO2 capture
- Capturing CO2 with machines costs around 30,000 NOK per ton of capture, while green plants, like a farmer’s field, capture 1-2 tons of CO2 per acre during the summer – for free.
